I'll just come out and say it. Some of us did the most back in the day, and took the thinning out of the brows to the next level! Listen, I was one of those girls with the super thin brows, and you couldn't have told me any different at that time. The thing is though, that after a certain age your brows just wont grow back in. If you've been trying to give them some time and you're over 30, they're probably not coming back!
In order for anyone to reshape your brow, we have to have enough hair to remove to change the shape to begin with. The same goes for creating an arch. We have to have hair to spare in order to take the brow up in the area above where your pupil is. If we don't have that, then we don't have the ability to create an arch. It always kills me to have to tell a client who has been patiently waiting for her brows to fill in for months that it isn't going to happen. Believe me, I want you to have the brows of your dreams- I also want you to look as young and vibrant as possible. The thicker your brows are, the more youthful your face looks- not to mention they frame the face.
Of course there are tons of different brow products on the market these days, and creating beautiful brows is the easiest it's ever been. It's all about using an angle brush and either a powder or gel with a light hand. It's always easier to add more than it is to lighten if you come in using too heavy a hand. My favorite products are the Anastasia Beverly Hills line, but there are new products hitting the market constantly!
Then of course there's microblading. I eventually went this route after trying to grow mine out for months and spending a small fortune on brow products. I did all of the proper research and found an amazing artist in New York who had been practicing for over a decade. Then a few months before my appointment a client told me about a practitioner in Massachusetts who also did beautiful work, was able to get me in relatively close to the other appointment, and her fee was very reasonable. Breala of Brows By Breala has since become known nationally, having recently been featured in Forbes (I know, fancy right?!) There's a significant wait list at this time, but believe me it's so worth the wait! Microblading is a semi permanent tattoo that doesn't go as deep as a traditional tattoo. After the initial appointment you'll go back a few weeks later for a touch up to adjust the color and the shape. After that, you'll go back in for touch ups on a yearly basis. I love my brows and the amount of time and energy that I've saved since having it done! For anyone who's over 30, thinned their brows out beyond repair, and not into having to fill them in each morning, definitely consider microblading-!
*oh and if you're nervous about the pain level- don't be! A numbing cream is used before you begin and then reapplied throughout the service!!!
